Patient History : Born and raised in New York City to a high-class American CEO father and a far too young Russian mother, Nicolai was given much loving attention from his adoring mother and a distant affection from his father. He was never lacking anything in his life, and the constant attention from his mother caused him to grow up with a holier-than-thou complex. He was never reprimanded for doing anything wrong, even in school, where his parents were insistent that their child could do no wrong.

That wasn't to say that he was stupid, however. Nicolai was very intelligent, able to manipulate those around him as he got older and started accompanying his father to work on occasion. As he grew older, his sly intelligence continued to grow, and by the time he had reached college age, he was a man who controlled what could be considered his own household (despite his mother's refusal to let him go live on his own).

He went to medical school and after graduating, went to work in a hospital where he eventually met the much younger David Crowe while caring for the man's invalid father. They hit off a distant friendship, keeping in touch occasionally, until one day when Nicolai recieved a letter from David, asking him to be one of the doctors at a mental institute for paranormal psychoses. Nicolai, with the financial and medical backing well in place to be able to help David, jumped at the chance to improve his standing anywhere. And besides, there were plenty of incredible research opportunities here, waiting just at his fingertips; who was he to pass up something like that?
